35 Gyms, Studios, and Fitness Instructors Offering Online Workouts Right Now
The fitness community is showing up big time amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
Fitness classes, gym hours, and workout meetups everywhere are canceled. But if you're home and looking to get your sweat on, worry not. Gyms, fitness studios, and personal trainers everywhere have gone virtual in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Online workout classes — courtesy of livestreaming services, fitness apps, and downloadable videos — allow you to try on-demand workouts wherever and whenever works for you.
These options give you the opportunity to easily try a variety of new workouts in the comfort of your home. “Now is a perfect time to branch out and try something fun to incorporate into your fitness routine — even if it’s out of your comfort zone,” says Mecayla Froerer, the director of NordicTrack-iFit online training and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)–certified personal trainer.
And remember, movement can go far in boosting mood, energy levels, and even immune function, making exercise a top choice for helping you cope with the coronavirus-related stress you may be facing.
For greatest benefits, Froerer recommends combining strength, cardio, and recovery and mobility sessions into your online workout routine. Pay attention to how your body and muscles are feeling to help determine the best split for you, and know that anytime you try a new type of workout, no matter how fit you are, you will experience some soreness. Whatever’s happening on your phone, tablet, computer, or TV screen, take each class at your own pace.
And if you have any injuries or a medical condition that might limit your ability to exercise, it’s a good idea to check with your doctor before starting a new workout.
To help get you started, here’s a list of 29 online workouts you can try right now wherever you can get an internet connection.
