Why I Fight | Amanda Brabec

August 22, 2019 | Amanda Brabec

What’s your name, where are you from, and what do you do?

Live in East Boston, but grew up mostly on the coast of CT. I’m a marketing manager for regional airline, Cape Air, focusing on media planning, social media marketing, and event planning.

What makes you a fighter?

I’m a fighter because I don’t let my fears or insecurities hold me back, and I’m willing to fight for my goals and dreams.

What do you fight for?

I fight to push myself to my limits, and show myself I’m capable more than I think. Finding that confidence and strength in the gym helps me find that fight for every day challenges too. If I can help other people find that in class, then that is definitely something worth fighting for.

What inspires you to take the hits and keep on fighting?

Knowing that other people have pushed through much harder challenges than I have forces me to ignore my self-doubt and excuses. For instance, when I ran the Boston Marathon it started getting really hard, and I could feel the self-doubt creeping in. Then I looked around and saw army guys running in their full uniforms and boots and bombing victims running with prosthetic legs. Seeing them fight through their challenges to prove they couldn’t be held back, put it all in perspective for me. And that message holds true in all aspects in life. It’s never as bad as you think, and there’s always someone fighting through something worse.

If you could fight side-by-side with one person, past or present, who would it be?

If we’re talking about an actual fighter, then Conor McGregor because he’s true to who he is and takes no shit. If not, then Kathryn Switzer, the first woman who ran the Boston Marathon. She was fearless, didn’t let anyone hold her back (literally a man tried to tackle her so she wouldn’t finish), and she paved the way for a lot of women after her.

What is your Fight Fuel?

Peanut Butter, all day every day.

What is your Fight Song?

Either “Run the World” because, Bey or really any throwback Chris Brown song can get me pumped up.

What’s your favorite EverybodyFights class?

Hm it’s a tie between Bags x Beats and Fight x Mittwork. Love getting lost in the beat, but I also love the confidence you get from hitting mitts.

Who is your favorite EverybodyFights Trainer, and why?

Moooooch. All the girl power vibes, she takes no shit, and makes everyone who walks into her class feel so welcome and comfortable to jump into the fight.

How do you Fight It Forward?

I think just keeping it as simple as trying to do the right thing always, help people who aren’t as fortunate as you, volunteer and donate when you can to organizations that matter to you.
